When an image just makes you stop what you’re doing to look at it in a higher resolution, that’s something worth sharing.

I still don’t like Vocaloid. Also, I’ll still be busying grinding to higher PSR with Petra in AH3, didn’t play as much as I would’ve liked yesterday; so no writing today, probably none tomorrow either. Lazy week I guess.

The link in the caption is actually to a thread with more work, quite lovely. I’ve seen a few artists with a style something like this and they always become favorites for me~

I’m still going to be busy with AH3. Played online and hit PSR 45 then I kept getting destroyed, down to I think it was 10ish? Playing Petra (Tyr) for now, should probably not leave the PSR option to any since I keep getting 150-200 PSR folks.

Probably no writing getting done today ’cause I’m still playing Deus Ex: Human Revolution, again. Also trying to master Petra in Arcana Heart 3 might take longer than I thought, after that its Nazuna… I’ll probably pull an all-nighter with AH3.

I still really love the use of color, when I first saw this artist I thought I’d get a bit tired of the odd colors but its sort of grown on me. So wonderful~

I don’t know if I’ll write anything today, its Labor Day and even if that means nothing to me, I feel like doing nothing.

A rare third line of commentary but I’m a little curious how this artist decided on that name.

I’ve never actually played any of the Tales games, though I’ve been told a few times that I should at least try one. I’ll get to it eventually.

Probably will have enough to buy Arcana Heart 3 tomorrow. We’ll see how much I have left after the trip to the MLK monument.

The original tag is still one of my favorites as it can turn up such lovely things as this~

DE:HR is amazing. I can’t even begin to say how much I love it (I pirated it but I’m definitely buying it when I have some spare cash, Arcana Heart 3 comes first though.).

It’s not that games aren’t entertaining anymore, its just that they don’t really give you the feeling of accomplishment when you beat the bloody thing. Its just do it and move onto multiplayer or do it and replay it a year later but you probably won’t even finish the second play through. Maybe I’ve just lost my passion.

I Dig It

Waking up in the woods, you find your self with a group of people you don’t know and a pickaxe for each of you. Aside from your clothing, the others, the pickaxes and for some reason 2 cats and 2 dogs there is nothing you can use to escape. In this moment of weakness you take the pickaxe in hand and strike at the Earth. You’re surprised at how great it felt and so you decide to take a few more swings. The others stare at your like you’re mad and begin talking among each other to try and figure out what is happening and where exactly they are.You continue to dig into the ground while listening to them speak and realize that nobody has any clue what is going on or whose animals those are. Then it all clicks together for you.

You stop digging and raise your pickaxe into the air and yell “Today we found ourselves lost and confused but not anymore! I will take command of you all and lead you to glory, today we begin our civilization! On this spot, we will dig until our fortunes change! Throw away your humanity and awaken to your dwarven blood! Why else would we awaken with axes around us? Today we shall dig deep and tomorrow as well.” You thrust your pickaxe into the air and look upon your people and almost shed a tear when you see them reach for pickaxes themselves. Together you will change the world and shape it as you see fit. This is what you believe.

The others proceed bury their axes into your body and walk away without another word. Remember, losing is fun.

Piracy and Sales

There are a number of reasons why people pirate: poverty, lack of localization, for shits and giggles, etc; none of these has any noticeable effect on sales. Its simple, the people who pirate the game don’t do it ’cause they can get it free they do it to play the game. Pirates go in with one intention: not to pay for the game, ever. It’s not a missed sale, they never planned on buying the game to begin with and chances are they won’t buy the game even if they like it. These people are here to play the pirated game or not play it at all. No matter how low you set the price or how amazing you make the game, nothing will motivate them to drop money on it.

The argument that DRM is there to prevent piracy is idiotic. Its simply there to deter paying customers from sharing the game by passing on the disc. DRM does not prevent piracy, not matter what the developer puts into the game to prevent piracy someone will find a workaround. Even with always on DRM pirates have found a way to fool the game into believing its connected to the servers. Always on DRM will only affect paying customers when they disconnect or when servers go offline. Players who know about the DRM will sometimes avoid the game altogether and will tell others to ignore it as well. Even if they have a connection that rarely fails, the possibility is still there. Power outages, server maintenance and the idea that one day you won’t be able to play your games because the company has gone under scare consumers away from the always-on DRM. Some people just want to be able to play a singleplayer game on a long plane ride but can’t, not when the game needs to be connected to the internet just so you can play alone. They’ve shot the paying customer and the pirate lives on.
